It’s a rainy Sunday here in Parma. Lindsay and I had planned to bike to a neighboring town for a French market, but just as we got outside of the city limits one of my bike pedals snapped off. Unfortunately, the only business that was open besides a few gelaterias was a place called “Better” which turned out to be where one, wait for it, places bets. Rain soaked and cranky, I managed to cycle back home (serious burnage in the right quad, bud) disappointed to be missing out on baguettes and buckwheat flour.
I find that dry clothes can work wonders for one’s mood though, and home is a pretty nice little place. There are interesting things to read here, and Glee and House on hulu. There were also steamed dumplings, salty green cabbage som tum, and sweet cantaloupe for lunch. Bread dough rising for cracked wheat rolls and homemade gnocchi for supper.
For a day that started on the wrong foot, this one has certainly redeemed itself. I do hope that Wander-bike will be road ready again soon, but I wouldn’t mind a few more drizzly spring days like this one.
