In Halle, Belgium
Welcome to Belgium
In Trieste.
One of my favorite meals in Trieste: sauerkraut, gnocchi di pane, mustard, goulash, and a serious amount of sausage.
Hello, coffee maker of my dreams. This little beauty is part of the extensive array of coffee brewing paraphanalia on display at the Illy Espresso factory in Trieste.
The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of travel, study, summer cocktail drinking, and World Cup watching. First, there was Crete, full of delicious sheep cheeses and vegetables. Then Friuli Venezia Giulia with a day in Trieste to learn about espresso and mussel aquaculture and a few more days in the Italian alps for cow’s milk ricotta. Now, we’re in Belgium to talk chocolate and beer.
I feel as though I want to push pause on my life right now. Every day I try to drink in everything that I’m seeing and experiencing.
A year ago, sitting in my office in Philly, I never imagined that in this short year I would have already seen and learned so much.
I’m so grateful.
Paris, je t’aime.
